Giving Thanks this Fall
Newsletter : November 2010

Giving thanks for:

The unchanging love of Jesus Christ our Savior
The opportunity to serve others around the world through Hospice care in His name
Our Honduran Volunteer Director Lourdes Argueta (more details later about her time with us here in the U.S. this fall)
Participating in Global Impact Conference with Biltmore Baptist Church
Celebrating Global Missions emphasis with our friends at Lexington Baptist Church
Precious final weeks spent with Susan’s mother and her peaceful home-going
Family and friends who bring joy and add beauty to our lives
A season of year to remember and worship THE ONE who makes all these things possible!

It was a very busy and full two week when Lourdes Argueta, our Honduras Volunteer Coordinator, came to visit and learn more about hospice in September. She enjoyed time with coworkers and team members who served with her in Honduras from Lexington Baptist Church in S.C. She was invited to speak about what God is doing in Honduras through ICH.

Thank you to Abbey Road Hospice of Columbia who opened their door and hearts to Lourdes. She learned much from their staff as she visited patients in their homes and attended hospice meetings. In N.C., at BBC Global Impact, Lourdes especially enjoyed meeting with people from other countries around the world and learning what God is doing. There were also opportunities for her to meet and talk with experienced Chaplains, Social Workers and Volunteer Coordinator at hospice in Asheville. Our goal was to increase her knowledge of hospice care and to translate that into ways she can implement these things she is learning for ICH in Honduras. Her time here was not all work and meetings. What fun we had celebrating Lourdes’ birthday and sharing a Honduran meal (which she prepared) with friends of ICH. Blessings on you, Lourdes, and we look forward to our times of ministry together this coming spring in Honduras!

Fall mission conferences are always a highlight of our year. It is so encouraging to us as we renew of friendships with others who are serving in hundreds of other places and ministries. Thank you to Biltmore Baptist Church, our sending church, for sharing in the vision God has given us. We also thank Lexington Baptist Church for their friendship and partnering with ICH.

Susan wishes to give a special thanks to those who sent their heartfelt prayers and comforting words of sympathy. Her mother, Clara Daves, went to be with the Lord on November 4. We had a beautiful celebration of her life with many family and friends and can’t tell you all how much your words and presence meant. “We do not grieve as those who have no hope” wrote the Apostle Paul. We miss those who die but have Christ’s example and promise for victory over death. One day we will all be reunited in the new heaven and earth enjoying REAL life as God planned it to be.

We pray that each of you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas Season full of His joy and peace!

Celebrating in God’s Grace,

Ron and Susan
